About

Mission

The MLTA works to develop a professional association that benefits its members and assists their customers in achieving conveyance of their real estate interests. Through education and legislation, MLTA strives to make the transference of real estate interest efficient and economically prudent while adhering to the highest professional standards of our industry. Since the founding of the Missouri Land Title Association, we have maintained the highest standards of the title profession, vigorously working to protect and promote the public interest, and encouraging personal growth within the industry.  We are “The Professionals of the Title Industry.”

About

The Missouri Land Title Association was founded in 1907 as a professional association of abstracters throughout the State of Missouri.  Our purpose is to promote and protect interests of our members and their clients in facilitating the transfer of ownership of land.  The “Shield of Protection”, chosen at the first annual meeting, represents the commitment of each member to the highest degree of accuracy, integrity and stability in the title profession.  Our Code of Ethics is a standard of commercial and personal practice that was implemented to uphold these high ideals.  Today the MLTA and our over 175 active member companies continue this legacy of professionalism.

Individual outstanding achievements in the title profession are encouraged and recognized through the “Young Title Person of the Year”, the “Young Title Professional of the Year” and the “Jack Flippo Title Person of the Year Award” programs.

Advocacy

The MLTA Legislative and Judicial Committee monitors legal matters, in both the Legislative and Judicial branches, that could potentially affect MLTA members. With the assistance of our lobbyists, Scott Penman and Kaycee Nail, the Committee evaluates proposed laws to determine whether MLTA will support or oppose bills.

The MLTA works closely with legislators in Missouri through its lobbyists, Scott Penman and Kaycee Nail of Penman Group, our MLTA Political Action Committee (PAC), and our Lobby Day events, to support legislation that upholds the high standards of the title industry.  Through our affiliation with the American Land Title Association, national issues are monitored.
